Yoga

 

Yoga is a spiritual science that originated in India and has been practiced for thousands of years. The word Yoga translates as union, yoke or to join.  The word "Yoga" was given to describe the system of disciplines that involves care of the body, mind and spirit through physical postures, breathing techniques, mantra, chanting and meditation. It is a practice that seeks to join all aspects of who we are to Divine Source. There are many paths to the practice of Yoga and many styles of Yoga.  It is important to find a Yoga style that works best for you and a Yoga teacher that resonates with you as well.

Kundalini Yoga

 

Kundalini Yoga uses repetition of movement, mudra, mantra and various breathing techniques, mainly "breath of fire" to stimulate Kundalini, the source of energy that resides at the base of the spine or the Muladhara Chakra.  Kundalini rising raises consciousness and unleashes our greatest potential so that we can live a more happy and fulfilling life.  We offer both gentle and vigorous traditional Kundalini kriyas.

Vinyasa Yoga

The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, moving from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique is sometimes called Vinyasa Flow, or just Flow because of the graceful way the poses run together and become smooth and flowing.  We offer both gentle classes and a more challenging Vinyasa class.

Private Yoga is for those who want to deepen their yoga practice, focus on specific issues or use yoga as a path towards healing and personal growth.  Discussion of  conditions, strengths and personal issues and goals will enable the Yoga teacher to design a program that is specific to your needs. Cultivate a deeper connection with your true self through the techniques of Yoga in a safe and supportive environment.
